I was supposed to be in McCombs for class but (thank God) I woke up late. I got the text alert on my way to the bus stop but it said nothing more than that there was an armed suspect on campus. It was only after I had gotten on the bus that one of my friends said HE got an email from his professor saying that campus was on lock down, and that email was only a forward from his professor. I think these alerts need to do more to illustrated the severity of these kind of circumstances.
Secondly, I think it speaks volumes that so many students did not think that this was serious at all. Either they were so adamant about getting to class (COUGH. no), or we have been so conditioned to think that an armed suspect on campus is nothing out of the ordinary. I, myself, continued to get on the bus, and I know that people STILL tried to get on the bus to get to exams, classes, etc. despite bus drivers telling them they weren’t going back to campus.
Thirdly, I am HONESTLY just SO disgusted with everyone who keeps using this monstrosity to “partay.” Seriously. Y’all are inhuman
